🌲 Epping Forest Camping Weekend: Lost Line, Steam Train & Festival

Day hike description
This unique two-day weekend combines two of our most popular Epping Forest adventures with an overnight campfire experience in the heart of the forest. On Saturday we'll follow the route of the long-lost Central Line extension to Ongar, passing former stations, visiting one of the world's oldest wooden churches (dating from 845 AD), spotting wildlife along the way, and finishing with a heritage steam train and bus ride back to Epping.
Rather than heading home, we'll continue into Epping Forest, stopping at a supermarket to pick up supplies before making the walk to our campsite. We'll be staying at a site that allows both camping and campfires, giving us a relaxed evening to cook, socialise and enjoy the forest atmosphere under the stars.
The following morning we'll pack up camp and set off for Loughton before joining a second hike through the finest scenery of Epping Forest. After lunch near Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge, we'll continue south through woodland trails to Wanstead, arriving just as the festival gets into full swing with music, food and entertainment.
