There are options for an easier Energetic hike up into the Cullin range without the need to summit, or even a more gentle coastal hike. Our Energetic hike takes you to one of the Gran Sasso peaks (Corno Grande, Monte Corvo, Monte Prena) via mountain shelters en route. On a clear day, you can see the Adriatic Sea.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Fairy Pools with their beautiful colours

Whether you seek an energetic adventure or a moderate forest walk, there's a perfect hike for everyone!

09:00 Depart the hotel. Today we will depart for Glen Sligachan and hike to Sgurr na Stri (494m) and enjoy views of Loch Coruisk. This can feel like quite a long linear route. Once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with views of Loch Coruisk.

Thise wishing a more relaxed day can join us for a longer drive that takes us to a small port from where we can take a boat to Loch Coruisk and enjoy the wildlife from the boat. This is, of course, subject to the weather.

Following the day’s hikes, we will all reconvene at the Sligachan Hotel, where they have a platter of Whisky tasters for you to enjoy.

19:00 Dinner at leisure in Portree.

Day Four - Postcard Day

Before breakfast, the Event WhatsApp Group will share complete details of the expected weather and the day's options.

08:00 Buffet breakfast

09:00 Today, we would like to offer a selection of sights with hikes. There are many great sights to be seen, but we dont have time to visit all of them, so we will split into groups so everyone gets to see the sights that most interest them.

We will start with everyone taking the short journey to the Old Man of Storr (719m), which is an easy route to get some awesome views of these interesting rock formations. Our descent will be via the windy, less-travelled route back to the vehicles.

Our next destination will be Quiraing Needles, which provides similar coastal views and offers either a circular summit walk or a linear route along the lower ridge. Prior to reaching the Quiraing Needles, we will stop at Mealt Falls, which drop 55m into the sea.

Moving on from the needles, there could be stops at Fairy Glen's strange landscape or a coastal hike to Coral Beach for those picture-postcard moments.

Finally, the last option, which requires a greater travel time, is the iconic Neist Point Lighthouse, which, on a perfect weather day, could be seen with the sunset in the background.

19:00 A three-course dinner will be served in the hotel, where we will formally welcome you to AAA Hiking and answer any questions you may have.

DIFFICULTY RATING

There will be at least two experienced hike leaders, plus a local guide for the more challenging hikes. Our hikes range from Moderate to Challenging, so there’s something for everyone! Depending on the weather, we plan to hike every day.

The Energetic and Challenging group can expect to ascend between 800 and 1300 meters, while the Moderate group will enjoy a more manageable ascent of 500 to 700 meters.

This is principally a hiking holiday. Please ensure that you come equipped to hike in all weather. We provide a complete kit list to help you prepare to get the most out of the holiday.

One question we are always asked is, “What determines the classification for the hike?" We have a guide to our hiking classification, which can be found here.

WEATHER

May is a beautiful time to visit. It's generally too early for the midges, and if they are present, the wind is usually above 4 mph after which they go to ground.

The temperature can get quite hot, but it averages around 13℃, Rain is always possible, but statistically May receives the lowest level of rain
